Queen Mary 2: The Only Modern Ocean Liner

I was lucky enough to first cruise onboard Cunard’s ‘Queen Mary 2’ in 2004, in her maiden season. I always wanted to cruise on her again, but time just slipped through my fingers like sand. However, I finally did in June 2024 – twenty years later!

The Queen Mary 2 is not just a regular cruise ship, she is of course the only modern ‘ocean liner’. She was also the world’s biggest passenger ship when she entered service.

Back in 2004, I would have told you that she was my favourite ship. So how has she changed? Is the food, service and ambience the same? Are the passengers the same? Is she still my favourite ship?
